The University of Barcelona takes advantage of the acquisition of Enantia by Inveready to divest in the spin-off company
The University of Barcelona (UB) has successfully completed its divestment in Enantia, one of the most prominent spin-offs in the field of pharmaceutical chemistry, taking advantage of the acquisition of the company by Inveready, one of the leading venture capital funds in Spain. This operation represents a step forward in the UB’s strategy to promote the development of technology transfer and guarantee the return on investments made in innovative projects.
The spin-off, founded in 2003 as a result of research carried out in the UB’s Department of Organic Chemistry, has established itself as a benchmark in the design and production of advanced chemical products for the pharmaceutical industry. Over the years, the UB has maintained a strategic participation in the company, contributing to its growth and business maturity.
Enantia provides comprehensive chemical services to the fine chemicals, pharmaceutical and biotechnology industries. The company contributes from initial research in the discovery of new drugs and the study of new synthesis routes, to any phase of research and development of a chemical process.
Inveready’s entry into the spin-off will further strengthen Enantia’s position in the global market, allowing the company to accelerate research projects, develop new products and expand its international presence. For its part, the UB has taken advantage of this opportunity to free up resources that will be allocated to new innovation and technology transfer projects.
The UB’s commitment to innovation
The University of Barcelona, through its knowledge and technology transfer office, the Bosch i Gimpera Foundation, actively promotes the creation of spin-offs and collaboration with companies to maximise the impact of the knowledge generated in its research centres. With this operation, the UB reaffirms its role as a driver of innovation and a bridge between university research and the business world.
