Open call for awards from the UB Social Council and the Bosch i Gimpera Foundation
The Bosch i Gimpera Foundation and the Social Council of the University of Barcelona (UB) are again convening the Antoni Caparrós and Senén Vilaró awards, each endowed with 5,000 euros. The Antoni Caparrós award is given to the best knowledge, technology and innovation transfer project, while the Senén Vilaró awards the best innovative company.

Antoni Caparrós Award for the best knowledge, technology and innovation transfer project
Knowledge, technology and innovation transfer projects developed by UB research staff in collaboration with a company or institution and managed by the Bosch i Gimpera Foundation can be submitted to this modality. A knowledge, technology and innovation transfer project is one in the framework of which technology or knowledge originating from the University of Barcelona has been transferred to a company or an institution.
Senén Vilaró Award for the best innovative company
This modality is designed for innovative companies promoted by UB research staff, companies based on the results of research carried out at the UB, and companies advised by the Bosch i Gimpera Foundation and/or companies participated by the University of Barcelona. They must be companies that started their activity a minimum of two years ago and a maximum of eight years.
Forty winners since 2008
The decision of the jury, made up of representatives of the convening institutions, will be made public at the awards ceremony, a public event that will take place at the end of 2024.
In the last edition, the Senén Vilaró prize was awarded to Gate2Brain, a UB spin-off. On the other hand, the Antoni Caparrós award recognized the project of Dr. Antoni Ibarz, professor at the Faculty of Biology at the UB, for the development of a non-invasive method that allows the health status of fish to be assessed.
Dr. Antoni Caparrós also received the award. Hibai López González, professor at the Faculty of Information and Audiovisual Media of the UB, for a project to create audiovisual pieces that contribute to preventing teenagers and young people from the risks derived from gambling.
Since 2008, the Social Council and the Bosch i Gimpera Foundation have awarded some forty companies or researchers: twenty-four researchers have received the Antoni Caparrós prize and sixteen companies have been awarded the Senén Vilaró prize.
