The spin-off of the UB, Qilimanjaro Quantum Tech, recognized at the Mobile World Congress as the best digital start-up in the world
The spin-off of the University of Barcelona, Qilimanjaro Quantum Tech, has been recognized at the Mobile World Congress Barcelona 2024 as the best digital start-up in the world. The company was chosen as the winner of the 4YFN Awards, a global start-up competition aimed at finding the best emerging companies from around the planet that represents the highest recognition offered to start-ups at the MWC.
Quantum computing start-up Qilimanjaro Quantum Tech was selected as the winner of the 4YFN Awards after an on-stage pitching competition among other finalists and evaluated by a panel of experts from the investment community and a live audience consisting of investors, business executives, entrepreneurs, government officials and the general public.
The rest of the finalist start-ups in the 4YFN Awards were: Bitsensing (South Korea), Mica AI Medical (Israel), Ocean Econstructures (Spain) and Whispp (Netherlands), which were shortlisted from the 4YFN Top 50 Start list -oops. These companies were chosen based on criteria that include the innovation of the start-up’s proposal, its impact, its future potential and many other aspects.
Among the benefits Qilimanjaro will receive for winning the 4YFN Awards is a cash prize of 20,000 euros, as well as the opportunity to speak about its technology at the 4YFN MWC Barcelona 2025.
A revolutionary technology
Qilimanjaro Quantum Tech is a spin-off of the University of Barcelona, the Barcelona Supercomputing Center and the Institute of High Energy Physics created in 2019. It is dedicated to developing and marketing quantum computers for specific use cases and with the aim of achieving important early advantages in the market.
With quantum technology, Qilimanjaro develops software capable of making calculations at a speed much higher than that of current computers. It is a revolutionary technology that will have a major impact in the medium term and will unleash new technologies and uses.
