The University of Barcelona to showcase its most innovative technologies at BioSpain 2025
The University of Barcelona will take part in BioSpain 2025, one of Europe’s leading biotechnology events and one of the largest in the world in terms of professional meetings and business participation.
The event, which will be held in Barcelona from 7 to 9 October, will bring together international stakeholders from the sector and attract more than one third of its attendees from outside Spain. The Catalan capital, considered one of the main biotechnology clusters in southern Europe, will become the ideal setting to strengthen connections and foster new collaborations.
The UB’s participation will be channelled through the Bosch i Gimpera Foundation (FBG), the university’s knowledge transfer office, which will represent the scientific and technological capabilities of several research groups. The FBG will use the event to showcase innovative solutions with high transfer potential and to establish contacts with companies, institutions and investors interested in collaboration or licensing opportunities.
These are some of the UB technologies that will be presented at BioSpain 2025:
- sRNA biosignature for the early diagnostic of neurodegenerative diseases
- Nanotechnological eyedrops for glaucoma, dry eye and ocular inflammation
- Gluten degrading protein for the prevention of celiac disease
- RIPLESS: Natural solution to preserve stone fruits
- New rhodium catalysts to improve regioselectivity in hydroformylation
By participating in BioSpain, the FBG will strengthen the role of the UB as a reference hub in the biotechnology and technology ecosystem of southern Europe. It will also help build international bridges to facilitate the commercial exploitation of technologies developed at the university and increase the visibility of cutting-edge projects on a global scale.
