Seven research groups at the University of Barcelona renew the TECNIO quality seal of approval

Seven research groups at the University of Barcelona (UB) have renewed the TECNIO quality seal and have thus obtained the new certification for the period 2025-2028. The accreditation is granted by ACCIÓ, the public agency for the competitiveness of Catalan companies, attached to the Department of Enterprise and Labor of the Generalitat de Catalunya.

The UB research groups that have received the certification are the following:

  • CEMIC – Micro and Nanosystems Engineering Center for Instrumentation and Communications.
  • CPT – Center for Thermal Projection
  • Creatio – Center for the Production and Validation of Advanced Therapies of the University of Barcelona
  • DIOPMA – Center for Design and Optimization of Processes and Materials
  • DSAI – Data Science and Artificial Intelligence
  • MAiMA – Stable Isotopes and Mineralogy
  • SDM – Drug Development Service

Of the seven UB groups presented by the Bosch i Gimpera Foundation this year, all have achieved ACCIÓ accreditation, which is a guarantee and a boost for knowledge transfer. It also identifies research groups that offer the most innovative technologies to help companies create new products, processes or services.

During the last TECNIO accreditation, period 2021-2024, these seven groups, which bring together more than two hundred researchers, earned ten million euros from R&D&I contracts. During this period of time, a total of twelve researchers were transferred to the company, in the form of Industrial Doctorates.

TECNIO agents represent a key piece within the knowledge transfer system in Catalonia, demonstrating a high capacity for collaboration with industry and for the generation and valorization of technology with five deep tech spin-offs active today and five intellectual properties that make them very attractive clusters. The indicators of these clusters directly benefit the Catalan society and contribute to the economic and technological development of the country.

This new accreditation reinforces the commitment of TECNIO agents to research excellence and applied innovation, positioning Catalonia as a benchmark in technology transfer in Europe.
