Over 100 hours of training in entrepreneurship and knowledge transfer for master’s and doctoral students

The seventh edition of the From Science to Market program began this morning at the University of Barcelona. It is an inter-university initiative promoted by the University of Barcelona, the Autonomous University of Barcelona, the Polytechnic University of Catalonia, Pompeu Fabra University, the University of Girona and the University of Vic – Central University of Catalonia, with the support of the Government of Catalonia and co-funded by the European Union.

The program, aimed at master’s and doctoral students as well as early-stage researchers, seeks to foster entrepreneurship and knowledge transfer, guiding participants in the process of turning their academic projects into innovation opportunities with a real impact on society. Over the coming months, they will receive specialized training, personalized mentoring and direct exposure to the Catalan innovation and entrepreneurship ecosystem.

The opening session, held at StartUB!, was dedicated to an Introduction to Entrepreneurship and delivered by Marta Zaragoza. In the coming days, participants will work on topics such as innovation, creativity and design thinking, with contributions from renowned experts including Alfons Cornella and Diana Pinos.

With a total of more than 100 hours of practical training, the program combines on-site and online sessions with visits to strategic spaces within the Catalan innovation ecosystem, including Pier01 (Barcelona Tech City), the Barcelona Supercomputing Center (BSC), the Centre CIM, the Parc Científic i Tecnològic de Girona and the Alba Synchrotron. In addition, participants will strengthen transversal skills such as communication, teamwork and an entrepreneurial mindset, complementing their academic background with a practical perspective.

Organized in collaboration with StartUB!, the Bosch i Gimpera Foundation (FBG), the UAB Research Park and Empren UPC, From Science to Market has already trained more than 150 participants in its six previous editions, contributing to the creation of 12 emerging companies, including Gate2Brain, Mitiga Solutions and Koa Biotech.

This year’s edition will run until December and conclude with a Demo Day, where the 30 participants will present their projects to mentors, university representatives and members of the entrepreneurial ecosystem.
