Two research groups from the University of Barcelona obtain the TECNIO quality seal
Two research groups from the University of Barcelona (UB) have obtained the TECNIO quality seal from the Generalitat de Catalunya, which accredits entities that develop and provide technology for companies. In this way, the UB expands the number of groups with the TECNIO seal, increasing from 7 to 9 accredited groups.
Specifically, the groups that are joining the TECNIO network are the following:
- CEREMET – Metabolism Research Center. It is led by Dr. Eva Pardina, professor at the Faculty of Biology of the UB, and has the support of the manager-promoter, Dr. David Ricart, from the Faculty of Biology.
- EDDU – Early Drug Discovery Unit. It is headed by Dr. Carles Galdeano from the Faculty of Pharmacy and Food Sciences.
CEREMT and EDDU were two PRE-TECNIO groups that were selected in the 2023/24 and 2024/25 call for proposals for the intensification of transfer activities of the Vice-Rectorate for Entrepreneurship, Innovation and Transfer of the UB. One of the objectives of the call was precisely to encourage those teams that wanted to create or consolidate as transfer groups and apply for TECNIO accreditation within a period of four years, a fact that they have now achieved.
Obtaining the TECNIO seal consolidates the UB’s strategic commitment to promoting applied research and collaboration with the business community. Through this certification, the visibility of the most leading research groups is reinforced and access to new projects and technology transfer opportunities is facilitated.
