The UB takes part in three of these fifteen selected projects in Europe. In Spain, the Hospital Cl\u00ednic de Barcelona and Hospital Sant Joan de D\u00e9u lead three of these proposals. The selected initiatives in the call present innovative solutions to respond immediately to some of the challenges the health system and society are facing.<\/p>\n<p>The UB takes part in the CAR3D project through the\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.fbg.ub.edu\/en\/researchers\/research-groups-of-the-ub\/grup-barcelona-de\/\" target=\"_self\" rel=\"noopener\">Group Barcelona de\u2026<\/a>, built by teaching staff of the bachelor\u2019s degree in Design of the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.ub.edu\/portal\/web\/bellesarts\/\" target=\"_self\" rel=\"noopener\">Faculty of Fine Arts<\/a>. Researchers will work on the design, development and validation of reusable masks and face protectors that fulfil the requirements of the European Union so that they can be available to be copied around Europe. The created EPI through the project will have no patent, so that local manufacturers can make this high-quality material. The objective is to use 3D print technologies to improve the making of necessary health material in pandemic management. The project, led by the Hospital Sant Joan de D\u00e9u de Barcelona, counts on the participation of the company BCN 3D, specialized on the making of 3D printers, the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.fundaciocim.org\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Technology Center CIM UPC<\/a>\u00a0and Sant Joan de D\u00e9u Foundation.<\/p>\n<p>On the other hand, <em>\u2018<\/em><a href=\"https:\/\/eithealth.eu\/covid-19-rapid-response\/certify-health\/\"><em>Certify.health<\/em><\/a><em>\u2019 <\/em>proposes to develop a privacy-by-design COVID19 status certificate \u2013 telling whether a person is infected, free of infection or immune.
