The University of Barcelona has been awarded the Creu de Sant Jordi, one of the highest distinctions granted by the Government of Catalonia, in recognition of nearly six centuries of service to knowledge, research and higher education, as well as its sustained commitment to the country\u2019s social, scientific and cultural progress.<\/p>\n
Founded in 1450, the University of Barcelona is one of the oldest institutions in Catalonia and a leading academic reference in Europe. This distinction highlights its key role in the scientific and cultural development of the country, coinciding with the celebration of its 575th anniversary during the 2025\u20132026 academic year.<\/p>\n
