The third\u00a0Open Innovation Forum<\/a>, a program that connects challenges proposed by companies with research groups in the BioRegion, finished out 2020 with noteworthy figures. In total,\u00a023 companies\u00a0<\/strong>and\u00a0101 problem-solvers\u00a0<\/strong>(including research centers -both academic and independent- and technology centers) participated in the program, holding\u00a0137 meetings\u00a0<\/strong>to attempt to resolve the\u00a052 innovation challenges\u00a0<\/strong>the companies posed. Now, over the coming months, the partners will draw up collaboration agreements to formalize the new innovation projects.<\/p>\n

<\/h3>\n

The companies’ challenges this year involve\u00a0immunity<\/strong>,\u00a0dermatological conditions<\/strong>,\u00a0pain management<\/strong>, innovation in\u00a0drug delivery<\/strong>\u00a0and\u00a0food supplements<\/strong>, among others.<\/p>\n

Some of the companies from the life sciences and healthcare sector that have participated include pharmaceutical laboratories like\u00a0Uriach Consumer Healthcare<\/a>,\u00a0Reig Jofre<\/a>,\u00a0ERN<\/a>,\u00a0Gebro Pharma<\/a>\u00a0and businesses like\u00a0Brudi Technology<\/a>. The problem-solvers that offered up their services to find solutions to the companies’ innovation needs included research groups from top universities in Catalonia (UB<\/a>,\u00a0UAB<\/a>,\u00a0UPC<\/a>,\u00a0UPF<\/a>,\u00a0URV<\/a>,\u00a0UdG<\/a>,\u00a0UdL<\/a>) and other prestigious organizations like the\u00a0Institute for Research in Biomedicine<\/a>,\u00a0Josep Carreras Leukemia Research Institute<\/a>,\u00a0VHIR<\/a>,\u00a0LEITAT<\/a>\u00a0and\u00a0EURECAT<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The Open Innovation Forum<\/a>\u00a0is organized by\u00a0Biocat<\/a>,\u00a0Fundaci\u00f3 Bosch i Gimpera<\/a>,\u00a0UPF Ventures<\/a>,\u00a0Parc de recerca de la UAB<\/a>\u00a0and\u00a0CIT-UPC<\/a>, with the collaboration of\u00a0ACCI\u00d3<\/a>,\u00a0Institut de Ci\u00e8ncia de Materials de Barcelona<\/a>\u00a0(ICMAB-CSIC),\u00a0Institut de Recerca Biom\u00e8dica de Barcelona<\/a>\u00a0(IRB),\u00a0Universitat de Girona<\/a>\u00a0(UdG),\u00a0Universitat Rovira i Virgili<\/a>\u00a0(URV),\u00a0Vall Hebron Research Institute<\/a>\u00a0(VHIR),\u00a0Xarxa d’R+D+I Energy for Society<\/a>\u00a0(XRE4S),\u00a0Xarxa de Refer\u00e8ncia en Tecnologies dels Aliments<\/a>\u00a0(XaRTA) and Xarxa de Refer\u00e8ncia en Biotecnologia (XRB).<\/p>\n
