UB’s Knowledge Transfer Event at the Bellvitge Campus brings together around fifty researchers
On 30 June, the Bosch i Gimpera Foundation (FBG), in collaboration with the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences and the Faculty of Nursing of the University of Barcelona, organised a technology and knowledge transfer event at the Bellvitge Campus to showcase to teaching and research staff the opportunities to transform research results into solutions with social impact.
The event brought together around fifty researchers interested in learning about the different knowledge transfer pathways and the support services offered by the University of Barcelona through its Knowledge Transfer Office.
The event opened with a presentation by Salvador Mena, Head of Transfer Promotion at FBG, who outlined the University of Barcelona’s main knowledge transfer pathways and the support provided by the Bosch i Gimpera Foundation to help researchers transform research results into impactful innovation.
One of the highlights of the event was the roundtable discussion, during which Dr Concepció Soler, Dr Ana Méndez and Dr María Fernanda Zerón shared their experiences of knowledge transfer in the fields of medicine and nursing. The speakers presented practical examples, reflected on the main challenges of the transfer process and emphasised the importance of bringing research results closer to society. The session was moderated by Laia Crespo and Martina Guerrero from the Bosch i Gimpera Foundation.
The event forms part of the outreach activities promoted by the Bosch i Gimpera Foundation to foster a culture of knowledge transfer across the University of Barcelona and to bring the services of the Knowledge Transfer Office closer to researchers across its different campuses. These initiatives help strengthen the role of university research as a driver of innovation and a means of addressing societal challenges.
In this regard, Salvador Mena, Head of Transfer Promotion at FBG, noted that “the Faculties of Medicine and Health Sciences and Nursing at the Bellvitge Campus are undergoing a significant period of growth and consolidation of their research activities, with the recent incorporation of new teaching and research staff. This event has provided an excellent opportunity to lay the foundations for a strong culture of knowledge transfer as part of this new stage.”
The initiative will continue with a series of one-to-one meetings with the Bellvitge Campus research groups to gain a deeper understanding of their research activities and interests in knowledge transfer, with the aim of promoting new initiatives and further strengthening their transfer activity.
