UB spin-offs and start-ups boost their international visibility at the Barcelona Deep Tech Summit
The University of Barcelona (UB) has once again taken part in the Barcelona Deep Tech Summit, the benchmark event for start-ups and spin-offs born from cutting-edge scientific and technological research. The meeting, held from 4 to 6 November at Fira Barcelona Gran Via as part of the Smart City Expo World Congress, brought together around fifteen emerging companies linked to the UB.
For the first time, the University had its own stand, a space that provided greater visibility for its innovation ecosystem and enabled direct contact with potential investors, partners and clients. This presence is part of the UB’s broader strategy to promote knowledge transfer and foster innovation arising from university research.
Among the participating companies were spin-offs such as ColorSensing, Electraqua Tech, Fetalife Technologies, Flavii Therapeutics, Gate2Brain, Logmeal, Mind and Identity and Virmedex Virtual Experiences; and start-ups such as Additive Spaces, Aigent Incubator, Bambai, BlueGreen Vision, Copailot, Lexy and WardUS.
The event served as an opportunity to build valuable connections with other companies, institutions and key players in the Deep Tech ecosystem. According to Elisenda Bonet, CEO of Fetalife Technologies, “having our own stand was very positive. It gave us visibility, we made very interesting contacts, and we were able to talk with potential clients and investors.”
Meanwhile, María Eugenia Martín, CEO of ColorSensing, highlighted that “we made unexpected but very useful contacts. Sometimes you expect one thing and find something even better. Talking to investors was challenging, but the networking was truly enriching.”
The Barcelona Deep Tech Summit, promoted by Barcelona Activa and the five Catalan universities (UB, UAB, UPC, UPF and UOC), has become a key meeting point to explore new opportunities and boost the Deep Tech industry, which develops the technologies that will shape the future.
Over the course of three days, the conference featured sessions on artificial intelligence, photonics, digital health, energy and sustainable mobility, along with debates on technology transfer and technological sovereignty.
With this new edition, the UB reaffirms its commitment to innovation and knowledge transfer, highlighting the impact of university research on society and the knowledge economy.
